Natural Solutions for Pain Relief
One of the most well known reasons people have heard about acupuncture is for pain reduction. It works so well, that sometimes the results are instantaneous. Pain relief can happen with acupuncture whether you are experiencing chronic pain after surgery, a decade old injury, or strained a muscle a couple weeks prior. Acupuncture reduces inflammation and turns off the pain signals in your brain. Depending on your condition, acupuncture can help you avoid surgery or heal from post-surgical complications. We work with all areas of the body, and can treat pain anywhere. Many times we do distal points, avoiding directly touching the painful area.
How does it work?
Acupuncture works to reduce pain by reducing inflammation, changing the nerve signals in the brain that relate to pain, increasing blood flow to affected tissue, helping your body loosen overly tight and spasming muscles and ligaments. Acupuncture works very well for pain and you will most likely see improvement within the first treatment. However, you will see the most long-lasting results if you commit to acupuncture treatment 1-2 times a week until the pain hasn't returned for a week. For acute conditions this could happen in as little as 4-5 sessions and for long-standing conditions it could be 10 or more treatments. Once pain is significantly reduced, we recommended spacing out treatments to bi-weekly and then once a month to ensure the body holds the new healthy pattern and pain does not return.
