Herbal formulas for every condition.

Chinese herbal medicine dates back thousands of years and is one of the most clinically comprehensive form of herbal medicine.  There are hundreds of specifically designed formulas to treat all illnesses we see today.  An herbal formula itself is comprised of 5-15 individual herbs that work together to target both the symptom and the root cause of illness.  With the right formula, you will most likely notice some change within a week of beginning the herbs.  Working with a high-trained and skillful herbalist is an important part of achieving those results.

Jennifer completed extensive herbal medicine training while completing her Master's in Oriental Medicine and since has completed an intensive two year post-graduate mentorship with the renowned Chinese herbalist Sharon Weizenbaum.  About 80% of Jennifer's practice includes herbal medicine in addition to acupuncture.  All recommended herbal medicines and supplements are vetted for quality (tested for pesticides and heavy metals), company standards, and organic and wildcrafted herbs are recommended when available.  Herbal medicines may be recommended in the form of pills, tincture or teas.

Herbal medicine is not a required part of treatment, but it can help quickly speed up the healing process and decrease your symptoms returning between treatments.  It can also be used as a standalone medicine with or without acupuncture treatments. It is especially recommended when treating menstrual health and fertility.

In addition, Jennifer likes incorporating Western herbal medicine and local herbal medicine when possible. Herbs like skullcap, milky oats, lemon balm, ashwagandha, tulsi and medical mushrooms such as Reishi and Lions Mane are some of her go tos.

Herbal medicine is considered food grade medicine, meaning it is generally safe and without side effects, yet it is important to consult with a well-trained herbalist to avoid any potential herb-drug interactions and to make sure you are actually taking the right herbal supplements for your system. Some herbal medicine, especially Chinese herbal formulas, are complex and need to be studied in detail by an herbalist to understand how to apply them to the individual’s pattern. This is also why they work so well, they are intricate and complex, and when paired right, can create big, positive changes in the body.
